Size Guide for the Novaguard
The Novaguard is suitable for all dogs. If you have a breed with a shorter nose (e.g. pug or a boxer) or longer nose (e.g. whippet) please contact us to discuss sizing. Refer to the Nose Length Guide for classification of nose lengths by breed.
Measuring for the Novaguard with a Normal Nose Length
Locate the Mid-Point - by running an imaginary line across from behind one ear all way up and across the dog’s head and across to the other ear.
You will find the mid-point located at the centre of this line. This mid-point is then used to establish the starting point of the head measurement.
Measure the Length - using a straight ruler measure from the mid-point to the tip of the dog’s nose. Do not follow the contours of the dog’s face. Measure in a straight line only. You may need to lift the ruler away from the face to get a good measurement.
Weigh your Dog - check the weight of your dog. Your vet will usually have a record of your dog’s weight. If you are using household scales for small dogs you can carry them for a first measurement, then put them down and measure your own weight, then deduct one reading from the other. The maths is easier if you use kilograms (convert stones to kg here).
Compare the tables - refer to the following two tables. The top one is for length, the bottom one is for weight. You can also see there is a slight overlap in the weight ranges. If each table indicates a different size choose the smaller of the two. It is better for the Novaguard to fit snugly on the head.
Table 1 of 2 - length
|Normal Nose||Head Length in Centimetres (cm)|
Table 2 of 2 - weight
|Normal Nose||Weight in Kilograms (kg)|
